Free, effective, and comprehensive antivirus tool

Overview

Avast Antivirus is a free, effective, and comprehensive antivirus tool. It’s one of the world’s best antivirus tools, thanks to the robust and reliable brand that Avast has created. The features make Avast Antivirus so popular are optimized scanning features, easy UI, optimized, and continually updated database of virus definitions.

Avast scans for performance and security issues and demonstrates how you can fix things easily. It protects users in real-time via analyzing unknown programs and files before they reach you. With Avast, you are running the world’s most trusted security tool. It is packed with one of the largest threat-detection networks, excellent password management, top-notch machine-learning virus & threat protection, and home network privacy and security that doesn’t slow down your PC.

Free antivirus tools are known for being quite pushy regarding paying for some sort of subscription, but not Avast. The free version of the tool lets you do pretty much everything you need to keep your system secure. There are some upgrade options on the principal console, as well as several features (firewall, Webcam Shield, URL safety verifier, etc.) that redirect the user to an order screen upon clicking them, but nothing specifically tricky./ Also, the sales pitch does not make ironclad claims on what the tool can do.

The software tells you immediately that it wants to collect anonymous usage data, most of which is used to serve fund development. However, you can always disable this option in the Privacy settings.

Key Features:

Remote Assistance — allows you to help or receive assistance over the web.

Designed for security — your passwords and home network privacy and security are protected 24/7.

Entertainment — Avast renamed its popular Game Mode to Do Not Disturb Mode, which blocks distracting pop-ups when you’re gaming or watching movies.

Intelligent Antivirus — upon detection, Avast blocks viruses, ransomware, spyware, malware, and phishing. The tool uses smart analytics to prevent threats from entering your system.

WiFi Inspector — you can now detect weaknesses and loopholes in your home WiFi and keep strangers from using your network.

Smart Scan — helps you find all the cracks that allow malware to enter, from poor settings and passwords to unknown add-ons and outdated software.

CyberCapture — detects and analyzes suspicious files, and if you attempt to run them, CyberCapture locks the file from your system and sends it to the Avast Threat Labs for analysis.
